SummitX Day 1: Keynotes and Panels Deliver Inspiration, Insights, and Innovation

After a relaxing arrivals day of golfing, river rafting, happy hour cocktails, and a fabulous Welcome Reception, SummitX kicked off officially on Monday October 28 with the iQmetrix Industry Address. And the sessions flowed from there!

Here are some of the key day-one highlights from the stunning conference facilities at the JW Marriott Scottsdale Camelback Inn Resort.

iQmetrix Telecom Industry Address: Executives from iQmetrix led this annual presentation to showcase what the company has been working on and to share big product announcements. Megan Howse, SVP of Marketing, Jason Raymer, SVP of Revenue, Iqbal Habib, our Head of Data and Analytics, and Trish Sale, our VP of Product took to the stage to discuss industry megatrends, how AI can enhance customer personalization and product lifecycle management, how new technology can smooth the reconciliation process, and where iQmetrix’s innovation and future vision is leading us. We also had Ryan Esteb of Shiftlab, our sibling company, come on stage to talk about the new seamless integration between RQ and Shiftlab for intelligent workforce management.

Adam Smiley” Poswolsky: A leading workplace culture guru, Smiley delivered a truly inspiring and utterly engaging keynote on how human connection is essential to workplace culture, and how belonging is a bottom-line business issue.

Jason Ellis: This former wireless retail operator and now CEO of 3Park, a technology consultancy, shared his expert insights on Does Retail Matter?” – examining the state of the retail sector today, how it is changing, how customers expectations and behaviors are shifting, and strategies to stay ahead.

Emir Aboulhosn: Emir is a leading Canadian expert in eSIM technology. He gave a riveting presentation on the rise of eSIM, how it’s affecting carriers and wireless retailers today, strategies on what they need to do about it, and where the technology is going.

Shelly Palmer: This tech visionary, professor, and well-known CNN and CNBC commentator offered an unmissable keynote presentation on how AI is transforming not just the telecom space but every aspect of our working lives. A truly mind-blowing session that was fascinating, exciting, motivating, and occasionally terrifying.

The Future of Telecom Retail Panel: Meridith Barnes, iQmetrix’s VP of Client Experience, led a panel discussion on multiple facets of telecom retail and what’s to come over the next few years. Panellists Jason Ellis, Jenn Gilman from Cox Communications, Chris Smith from TELUS, and Jake Miller from BeMobile, dug into topics ranging from AI predictions to staff recruitment and upskilling, to the carrier-retailer relationship, to sustainability, and more.

Added to these major sessions, iQmetrix staff held multiple concurrent breakout sessions through the day, examining market trends, retail strategies, RQ user tips and tricks, and much more besides. The day was packed with three of our theme words: Innovation, Insights, and Inspiration.

The fourth theme word was well-covered by the networking throughout the day at the social interactions, and in our Vendor and Product Showcases. And the day ended with a spectacular speakeasy-themed party in a Western-style town plaza, under the iQmetrix symbol projected on the side of Mummy Mountain!

A history-soaked password phrase was required to gain entry (fortunately the door staff were lenient) and the bourbon cocktails were flowing. We had an mouth-watering buffet, a cigar bar, a leather branding spot, costume photo booth, a drink-smoking station with smoking guns, a bourbon tasting station, and more! The ultimate highlight was the incredible drone show that continued the AI-based story started at the Industry Address earlier in the day. Everyone was blown away!
